Buttery Homemade Bread
Make this in a bread pan for great sandwich bread. It tastes like it's been buttered from the inside.
1/2 cup hot tap water
1/2 cup milk
2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast (1 pkg.)
1 teaspoon sugar
2 tablespoons Butter Olive Oil
1 teaspoon salt
3 cups all-purpose flour
In a small bowl mix together the hot water, milk, yeast, sugar and olive oil; let sit 5 minutes. In a large bowl or a stand mixer bowl, combine the salt and flour. Add the yeast mixture and combine. Let sit 5 minutes to allow the flour to hydrate. Knead the dough about 4-5 minutes.
Place kneaded dough in a medium size oiled bowl. Cover and let rise until doubled in size, 1 - 1 1/2 hours.
Punch down dough, and form into a ball or 9-inch loaf shape. Place onto a greased cookie sheet and make 2-3 slashes in the top. Alternatively, place in an oiled bread pan and make slashes. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Cover and let rise for 30-40 minutes.
Bake for 30 to 40 minutes, until golden brown. Once cooled, slice and serve with jam.
